FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Daniel Jackson

Musical Director

These Stories Saved My Life

Daniel Jackson intricately guides the musicians and audience through a sound interpretation of the characters, circumstances, and conflicts of the dramatic experiences.  Jackson, who was born in La Jolla, has been playing, arranging, composing and teaching music for more than fifty years.

Daniel is a skilled and compelling performer on the tenor saxophone, piano, flute, and piccolo.  Currently, Jackson is the featured pianist in the Prince of Whales Restaurant at the Hotel Del Coronado on weekends.  A graduate of San Diego High School (class of 1955), Jackson fined tuned his competency through private lessons with Mr. Dalby, from 1949 to 1954.  The lessons were provided by his mother, the late Mrs. Johnnie Jackson.  Mrs. Jackson, a native of Waco, Texas, had been widowed since 1946.  She was a single parent of three children.  She supported her family by doing domestic work.  Mrs. Jackson recognized and supported the value of music as a means of interpreting life experiences.  She instilled this value in her youngest son, Daniel.  Jackson's professional experiences include additional instruction with Balboa Park Youth Concert Band, The United States Air Force Band, (1955 - 1959).  In addition to training, Jackson is a recognized Jazz expert.

This talented musician has performing experiences with Lenny McBrowne, Jimmy Smith, Art Farmer, and the legendary Ray Charles.    In addition to these musical activities, Jackson includes in his repertoire, several independent recordings such as Milky Way, v.1 2002; Life is But a Dream, 2002; Out of the Window, 2002; L.A. Up Rising, 1994 v.1. During the performance of These Stories Saved My Life,Jackson brings the depth of his unique musical touch to share the profoundness of music as a healing balm.
